Thousands of Coastal Empire businesses are receiving mailers this week announcing a new shopping concept, THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH MALL. The mailer reads: "Are you looking to ... Grow your business? Open another? Move to a smaller location with heavy foot traffic? Expand to the Savannah, GA market? Discover the Coastal Empire's largest, year-round indoor Marketplace."

SAVANNAH Georgia (July 16, 2009) -- Savannah Mall announces THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH MALL, a new indoor shopping destination that convenes neighborhood-style shops with dazzling and curious wares. Beginning with 90,000 square feet, which formerly housed Steve and Barry's, THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH redefines retail and will be the Coastal Empire's largest, year-round indoor marketplace.

"THE MARKETPLACE is an enticing concept that is working well in other cities," shares Chardell Steves, leasing manager. "In the all-weather shelter of one of Savannah's most prestigious shopping locations, complimentary shops can be in place just in time for the holidays."

SAVANNAH MALL WANTS THE EXPANSION TO BE EXECUTED IN NEIGHBORLY, SAVANNAH STYLE

The appeal of Savannah itself initially drew the attention of new mall owners in November 2007. They are betting again that Savannah style will entice out-of-town and local businesses into new space at THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH MALL.

"Shop after shop, face after face, personal things matter to us in Savannah," shares Senea Crystal. marketing director at Savannah Mall. "Entrepreneurs who fantasize about control, independence and being in charge may come to us with shop concepts, such as aromatherapy, yoga, quilting, scrapbooking, gourmet foods, or monogramming. These are the little things we love in our everyday lives. Rather than crisscrossing town, THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH MALL is congregating new shops and multi-generation businesses to deliver the ease and convenience of 'get and go' shopping."

There is no predetermined list of new shops in THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH, but Ms. Crystal offers more ideas. "We envision it as a shopping village, a retail square inside the mall -- a book shop, a garden shop, a gourmet food market, a shoe repair shop, a camera shop, a music shop, an art gallery, and an Internet cafe'," Crystal adds.

In the economy of 2009, new entrepreneurs are putting innovation to work. Savannah Mall wants to be that place for innovative doers. In 2005, it was Trendwatching.com that began speaking of new-found entrepreneurs in terms of "minipreneurs, actually be[ing] chic, allowing one to think big while implementing small."

SAVANNAH MALL SHOPPERS AND SHOPKEEPERS BENEFIT

"At Savannah Mall, we want the shopper to have it all -- the big department store and the small shop options," concludes Crystal. "THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH is 'retail, redefined'. Who would not welcome the ease and convenience of making one stop for all the little things one needs or wants," Crystal adds.

Certainly, Savannah Mall has won new community friends through its aggressive marketing and generosity, especially through the popular, well-attended events hosted at the Southside mall. "Savannah Mall is committed to being the best good-neighbor business in the coastal Georgia area," concludes Crystal. "Now is the time for BIG ideas, achievable on relatively small budgets. Savannah Mall gets that. THE MARKETPLACE is simply our next big effort to please shoppers and store owners."

On Friday, July 31, 2009, the owners of Savannah Mall are hosting an open house to introduce THE MARKETPLACE AT SAVANNAH MALL to prospective shopkeepers. For more information, contact Chardell Steves at Savannah Mall -- chardell.steves [at] savannahmall [dot] com or 912.927.7467.
